Artist's Comments

Every year our family hosts a bonfire. These are not campfire bonfires... they are call the firedepartment and let them know it's not a forest fire bonfires. Anyway it all started one year when a tree was struck by lightnening, and then the next year it happened again... by the third year it was a tradition and whether we have a downed tree or not, we always find something to burn...

This photo was snapped at our 2002 bonfire after most of the guests had headed home and the fire was no longer being fed. It amazes me how each years fire is so different. They all have a special life and character to them never to be repeated... and to capture such a moment on film is a great gift for myself. I hope you enjoy as well.
